”I worked with Matt on the Future Fitness 56 Programme. I had been pretty active and running a bit but felt sluggish and definitely needed to lose some weight. Taking measurements, planning meals and training in advance was a pain at the start and it took me 4 full weeks to get to grips with the consumption of vast quantities of water!

All of this is absolutely essential for Matt and his team to assess how I was doing and trusting in the process is as big a part of the programme as is diet and exercise. In weeks 5 and 6 I felt a bit disappointed with progress but a quick and wise word from Matt reassured me that I just needed to keep consistent and increase my input in terms of steps. I found that getting the full 10,000 is a minimum requirement and that small change added to what I was already doing shifted several pounds in the final two weeks.

I lost about 18lbs and while that is just a number, I can see the difference in the mirror and feel the difference when I am running now. I have entered the 2019 Dublin City Marathon and, with that long term goal in mind, Matt has given me sensible advice to start the journey now. Sensible advice is what sums Matt up. His knowledge is vast but he can distill the message down to an understandable nugget for those of us who aren’t so knowledgeable. If you listen to Matt Cooney you won’t go far wrong!”

– Noel (Future Fitness 56)

Matt’s thoughts;

”It was great working with Noel over the 8 weeks. He lost 18lbs over the 8 weeks and as well as that, his fitness levels really improved which is important as a runner.
During the middle of the programme, weight loss stalled but he didn’t give up! He kept putting in the work and increased his activity. This just goes to show that once you are consistent and continuously putting in the work, your weight will eventually drop. His hard work paid off! It’s all about developing habits and routines and the more you do it the easier it gets! A lot of people give up when they don’t see results quick enough but you just need to be patient and give it time!

Being leaner and having a better composition (more muscle/less fat) will really help him now in his training for the marathon in 2019. Well done on all your hard work Noel and best of luck with the marathon!”
