25 weeks
24 pounds lost.
The goal in January was too get in the best shape of my life, no time limit. To be honest I was ok with the way I looked in January I just wanted to push myself as far as I could, but now I plan on never going back to the way I was in January and staying in this shape year round.
I wanted to experience all the ups and downs that come with dieting for an extended period of time and learn from it. I also wanted to do it to show clients that I wouldn’t get them to do anything that I wasn’t willing to do myself. I practice what I preach.
There was many ups and downs and I have learnt so much about the psychology of food & effects of dieting for an extended period of time.
Also if I was to do it again I would do a few things different;
– I’d hire a coach. Your probably thinking why would you do that, it’s simple. ACCOUNTABILITY. The first 8 weeks were fairly poor progress wise and I really needed someone to kick my ass and tell me to just cop on and get shit done!
– I would never have been “bulking”! I should never have let myself get that heavy in the first place. I had it in my head that I was able to be “ripped” at 80kg so I just kept putting on weight. I didn’t realise how much Bodyfat I had until I tried to lose it! Staying around the weight I am now will mean I’ll most likely never have to diet for this long again.
– I would set a goal with a deadline. The last 6 weeks of this diet was the most successful because I booked a photoshoot for the 10th July. Knowing I was going to get behind a camera really motivated me and gave me that extra push i needed.
All in all it was a great learning experience for me and combining this with the busiest I had ever been work wise, it really opened my eyes to just how tough dieting can be for people!
