Fasting won’t fix a shit diet!

Fasting has become popular over the last couple of years.

I talk to soo many people and most of them will mention that they’ve tried some form of intermittent fasting.

One of the biggest benefits of fasting as a dieting strategy is also a negative that causes a lot of issues.

The benefit is that it’s very simple to explain.

Only eat between X & X.

Done.

The problem is if your diet is shite, it’s still going to be shite.

Just in a reduced number of hours.

Low protein
Low fiber
Poor micronutrition

Fasting alone doesn’t solve these things.

It can actually make things worse and lead to things like disordered eating, binge eating, poor relationship with food etc...

If you don’t know how to eat properly and have a low nutritional knowledge, fasting is not the answer.

On the other hand, if you have those foundational nutritional principles in place fasting can be a good strategy for some people and make dietary adherence a lot easier.

It’s why context is important.

What works for one person might not work for another.

This mans journey has been absolutely incredible.

Sometimes it’s not until you look back that you realize how far you’ve come.

When Jamie came to us he felt as if he was in a rut with his health and fitness.

He’d always been on and off with the gym and playing sports but always felt like his fitness levels and consistency with the gym let him down.

Being busy juggling his career, work on the farm and a busy lifestyle, his diet was based around convenience foods, eating out of delis frequently and lots of snacking.

He knew he wanted to make a change.

“I am at rock bottom in terms of mentality over the past year and a half.

The only way I feel I can get out of this mindset is by doing this and changing my life.

I want to be the best I can possibly be in terms of shape and mentality.

I’m glad that I am finally going to do this for myself.”

Since coming on board he’s went from strength to strength both physically and mentally.

He’s like a different person.

“Feeling great Matt to be honest.

Was just comparing the old me with the new me when I looked back on that picture.

So many differences in general, more energy, more focused, more determined, stronger mentality.”
